Wed Nov 27 15:49:09 UTC 2024: ## Hindu Group Demands Demolition of Ajmer Dargah, Claims Prior Shiva Temple
**JAIPUR:** A Hindu organization, Hindu Sena, has filed a petition in a Jaipur court demanding the demolition of the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah, claiming it was built on the site of a pre-existing Shiva temple. The petition, filed by Vishnu Gupta, president of Hindu Sena, alleges that the Dargah occupies the land of the Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple. It further requests the court to allow Hindus to pray at the site.
The petition cites a 1910 book, “Har Vilas Sharada,” as evidence of the previous temple’s existence. It urges the court to order the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct a survey of the Dargah to verify their claims. The court has accepted the petition and issued notices to the Dargah committee, the ASI, and the Rajasthan state government.
This action follows a similar protest by the Maharanapratap Sena, which also alleges the presence of Hindu symbols on the Dargah’s walls and windows. The ongoing dispute highlights the sensitive religious dynamics in the region.
