MUMBAI, INDIA – November 25, 2024 – The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured the services of all-rounder Anshul Kamboj for a hefty ₹3.4 crore on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 24-year-old, who shot to fame after taking all 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy match for Haryana in 2024, was the subject of a fierce bidding war involving four teams.
Initially, the Delhi Capitals opened the bidding at the base price of ₹30 lakh. However, CSK, determined to acquire Kamboj, quickly joined the fray, eventually outbidding the Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. The Super Kings’ persistence secured the player after MI dropped out at ₹3.4 crore.
Kamboj’s impressive Ranji Trophy performance, where he became only the third player in history to achieve a 10-wicket haul in a single match (10/49 against Kerala), catapulted him into the spotlight. He previously played three matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, taking two wickets. Known for his new-ball swing and seam bowling, Kamboj has already dismissed notable batsmen like Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Iyer. His acquisition is considered a significant boost to CSK’s bowling arsenal.
