**NEW DELHI, November 25, 2024** – Hindus across India will observe Utpanna Ekadashi on November 27th, 2024, considered the most sacred of all Ekadashis. This day marks the mythical birth of Ekadashi Mata, who is worshipped alongside Lord Vishnu. The observance of Utpanna Ekadashi is believed to grant salvation (moksha) and absolution from past sins.

According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi begins at 1:01 AM on November 26th and concludes at 3:47 AM on November 27th. Parana (breaking the fast) is scheduled between 1:12 PM and 3:18 PM on November 27th. It is crucial to avoid Parana during Hari Vasara.

The significance of Utpanna Ekadashi is rooted in a mythological tale. The demon Murasura terrorized the Devas (gods), prompting them to seek Lord Vishnu’s intervention. After a century-long battle, Vishnu rested in a cave called Himavati. Murasura attempted to slay the sleeping Vishnu, but was thwarted by a divine feminine energy who emerged and vanquished him. Impressed by her valor, Vishnu recognized her as a part of himself, naming her Utpanna Ekadashi. This explains the joint worship of Lord Vishnu and Ekadashi Mata on this auspicious day.
