**Panaji, Goa –** American companies are poised to significantly increase their presence in Goa’s electronics and green energy sectors, according to US Consul General in Mumbai, Mike Hankey. During a visit to Goa on Friday, Hankey stated that numerous US firms are eager to collaborate with Goan businesses, offering advanced technologies and expertise.

Hankey’s visit, which coincided with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 and the Exposition of the sacred relics of St Francis Xavier, included meetings with Goan businessmen and a tour of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Goa office. He highlighted Goa’s advanced innovation ecosystem, particularly the research conducted at institutions like BITS Pilani, Goa, in areas such as semiconductors, clean energy, and pharmaceuticals.

The US Consul General emphasized the potential for partnerships in electric vehicles, information technology, and reshaping India’s supply chain, currently heavily reliant on China. He also noted the interest of US filmmakers attending IFFI in collaborating on future web series with Indian counterparts.

Furthermore, Hankey praised Goa’s inclusivity measures for the differently-abled at the St. Francis Xavier Exposition, suggesting potential US assistance in this area. He also addressed concerns about potential changes in US visa and trade policies following the upcoming presidential transition, assuring that student visas and trade relations would continue uninterrupted. Currently, 330,000 Indian students are studying in the US, and US embassies and consulates are working to streamline visa application processes. The increased US engagement is expected to bring about significant corporate tie-ups, MoUs, and technology collaborations in the coming months.
