**Ongole/Hyderabad, November 26, 2024** – Film director Ram Gopal Varma is reportedly on the run, evading arrest in connection with a social media case. Varma failed to appear at the Ongole Rural Police Station on Monday as summoned, prompting a search operation.
Police teams were dispatched to Varma’s Hyderabad residence in Film Nagar, but he was not present, and his phone was switched off. His lawyer contacted the police, stating Varma was unavailable but willing to cooperate via a virtual interrogation. Varma himself also reportedly requested a virtual interrogation. However, no decision has been made on this request.
Further complicating matters, police received information suggesting Varma is currently in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Prakasam district police are coordinating with Tamil Nadu authorities and are reportedly preparing to send a team to Chennai.
The situation stems from a social media case against Varma. While he initially filed a petition in the High Court to quash the case, this was rejected. He has since filed another petition seeking interim protection from arrest, with a hearing scheduled for Tuesday. The ongoing search for the elusive director continues.
