**Kozhikode, Kerala – November 26, 2024** – A man, Rahul P. Dev, was arrested by the Pantheerankavu police in Kozhikode city on Tuesday, despite a Kerala High Court’s dismissal of a domestic violence case against him. The case, initially filed by his wife, had been dismissed in October after the couple stated their desire to reconcile.
However, the woman was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital Kozhikode on Monday with facial and eye injuries, leading to a new complaint against her husband. She alleged that Mr. Dev assaulted her on Sunday and Monday and requested police assistance in returning to her parents’ home.
The police have initiated proceedings to file charges against Mr. Dev after recording a detailed statement from the woman. This arrest follows a previous investigation where five individuals, including Mr. Dev and his relatives, were implicated in the now-dismissed domestic violence case. The earlier investigation had resulted in the suspension of two police officers due to alleged investigative lapses, and the Kerala Women’s Commission also registered a case. Four of the five accused were previously arrested and released on bail. The High Court’s dismissal of the case, however, prompted this recent turn of events.
