MUMBAI, INDIA – Mahindra & Mahindra has launched two highly anticipated electric vehicles (EVs), the XEV 9e and the BE 6e, marking the debut of its new sub-brands, XEV and BE. The base models, both equipped with a 59 kWh battery pack, are priced at ₹21.90 lakh and ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) respectively. These EVs boast several segment-first features and powertrain options that aim to compete with premium EVs from brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Both SUVs draw inspiration from their concept counterparts. The XEV 9e, an SUV-coupe, features an upright bonnet with an illuminated Mahindra “Infinity” logo, connected LED DRLs, and a blanked-off grille. Its design highlights include a sloping roofline, flush door handles, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and a connected LED taillight setup mirroring the front DRLs.

The BE 6e presents a more angular design with an illuminated BE logo, horizontally stacked LED headlights, and C-shaped DRLs. While sharing the gloss black wheel arch cladding with the XEV 9e, the BE 6e distinguishes itself with flared wheel arches and a different arrangement of door handles. Its taillights echo the C-shape of its DRLs.

Inside, both EVs share a minimalist interior with a two-spoke steering wheel featuring illuminated brand logos, a layered dashboard, and a centre console housing driving mode dials, a gear shifter, cupholders, and wireless phone charging (two pads in the BE 6e). The XEV 9e boasts three 12.3-inch screens (driver’s display, touchscreen, and passenger display), while the BE 6e features dual screens. These features combined aim to position these vehicles as strong contenders in the burgeoning EV market.
