Tue Nov 26 15:15:19 UTC 2024: ## Mahindra Unveils Two New Electric SUVs, Challenging Rivals

**Mumbai, India –** Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has launched its first two pure electric SUVs, the BE.05 and XUV.e9, marking a significant step into the electric vehicle (EV) market and challenging established rivals. The launch comes ahead of anticipated entries from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, positioning Mahindra as a frontrunner in the burgeoning Indian EV SUV segment.

The BE.05 and XUV.e9 are built on the INGLO platform, a new architecture described as “Indian at heart with a global outlook,” incorporating components sourced from Volkswagen’s MEB platform. M&M is confident both vehicles will achieve a five-star safety rating.

The SUVs boast a range of advanced features, including the Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture (MAIA) software platform with over 30 apps, and LFP blade cell battery technology offering 59 kWh and 79 kWh options, delivering a range up to 682 km on a single charge (79 kWh battery). The larger battery boasts a fast-charging capability of 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes and comes with a lifetime warranty for the first owner. Both models deliver 210 BHP of power and 380 Nm of torque.

This launch is part of M&M’s ambitious plan to introduce six electric SUVs by 2030. The company is investing ₹12,000 crore (approximately $1.45 billion USD) in Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., with support from investors including British International Investment Plc and Temasek Holdings. This investment aims to accelerate M&M’s EV transition and compete with Tata Motors, the current market leader. The unveiling also directly challenges Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, who are slated to unveil their own mass-market electric SUVs, the EVitara and Creta EV, respectively, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in January.
