**Chennai, India –** Mahindra & Mahindra, a leading Indian automaker, unveiled its first Electric Origin SUV, the BE 6e, at the Unlimit India event in Chennai. This marks a significant step in Mahindra’s expansion into the global electric vehicle market.
The BE 6e, priced at Rs 18.9 lakhs (ex-showroom Chennai, OTR estimated at Rs 20.36 lakhs), is built on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform – a dedicated born-electric architecture designed for global production. The company plans to release pricing for higher trim levels (Pack 2 and Pack 3) at a later date.
The BE 6e boasts impressive specifications, including a 59 kWh battery pack enabling a 20-80% charge in just 20 minutes with a 140 kW DC charger. It offers a powerful 170 kW electric motor, resulting in a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 6.7 seconds (top-spec version). The vehicle also features a distinctive coupe SUV design incorporating Mahindra’s Heartcore design language, highlighted by C-shaped LED DRLs and unique air channels.
The interior showcases a cutting-edge cockpit-like split dashboard, a first for mainstream Indian vehicles. It’s packed with technology, including dual super screens, a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and numerous connected car features. Safety features include six airbags, a high-stiffness bodyshell, and advanced braking systems.
Mahindra positions the BE 6e as the most affordable of its five Electric Origin SUVs, aiming for a blockbuster launch in both India and international markets. The BE 6e and its sibling, the XEV 9e, represent the initial rollout of Mahindra’s ambitious electric SUV lineup.
