Mon Nov 25 17:56:22 UTC 2024: ## Kerala Chief Minister Condemns Central Government’s Handling of Wayanad Landslide and Other Issues
**Kannur, Kerala, November 26, 2024** – Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched a scathing attack on the Central government Monday, accusing it of neglecting the state’s needs in the aftermath of the Wayanad landslide and other critical matters. Speaking at the Koothuparamba martyrs’ memorial programme, Vijayan criticized the Centre’s refusal to declare the landslide a major disaster and its failure to provide promised flood relief. He vowed to meet the Prime Minister in Delhi to demand the necessary support, stating that Kerala is only seeking its rightful share, not charity.
Vijayan further condemned the Centre’s handling of the Manipur crisis, alleging genocide and accusing the BJP and RSS of targeting minorities. He also highlighted the differing treatment of the Munambam Waqf land issue, assuring residents that evictions will not occur and a judicial commission has been established to resolve the matter. He announced plans to approach the High Court to lift a stay on land tax payments while protecting residents’ rights.
The Chief Minister also accused the Centre of attempting to undermine the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) through restrictive loan limits and of employing double standards regarding National Highways and KIIFB funding. He further accused the BJP and Congress of electoral collusion and criticized the Congress’s alleged alliances with Jamaat Islami and SDPI for political gain.
Despite these criticisms, Vijayan expressed confidence that the state government’s policies and welfare measures have secured public trust and will ensure continued LDF support. The government’s rehabilitation plan for Wayanad, he assured, will proceed despite land acquisition challenges.
