**Bengaluru, November 21, 2024** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Australian Space Agency (ASA) have formalized a significant collaboration to bolster India’s ambitious Gaganyaan human spaceflight program. An Implementation Agreement (IA) signed on November 20th ensures Australian support for crew and crew module recovery during contingency situations.

The agreement specifically addresses potential scenarios requiring search and rescue operations in Australian waters during the ascent phase of Gaganyaan missions. ISRO’s Gaganyaan program aims to demonstrate India’s human spaceflight capability, involving three uncrewed test flights and a final crewed mission.
