**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia –** The Delhi Capitals made significant additions to their squad on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, securing the services of veteran South African batsman Faf du Plessis and retaining Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar.

Du Plessis, a two-time IPL champion with Chennai Super Kings, was acquired for Rs 2 crore. He boasts an impressive IPL record of 4,571 runs in 145 matches, including 37 half-centuries, and recently led the Royal Challengers Bangalore to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar was retained via the Right to Match (RTM) card for Rs 8 crore. The pacer, who made his IPL debut with Delhi Capitals in 2023 and his international debut the same year, impressed last season with 17 wickets in 10 matches.

Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket (IPL), Venugopal Rao, highlighted the team’s strengthened bowling attack, stating that the additions of Starc, Natarajan, Mohit Sharma and Mukesh Kumar, along with spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, create a formidable bowling lineup. He emphasized that while batsmen win matches, bowlers win titles.

Sourav Ganguly, Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals (WPL) and JSW Sports, expressed delight at securing du Plessis, praising his T20 prowess and leadership skills. He admitted surprise at acquiring the experienced batsman for such a relatively low price. The acquisition of these two players is expected to significantly boost the Delhi Capitals’ chances in the upcoming IPL season.
