**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** The Delhi Capitals made a strong start to Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, securing two key players: veteran South African batsman Faf du Plessis and Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar.

Du Plessis, a two-time IPL winner with Chennai Super Kings, was acquired for ₹2 crore. The former South African captain brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record, having amassed 4,571 runs in 145 IPL matches. His leadership skills, showcased recently with Royal Challengers Bangalore, were also a key factor in the acquisition.

The Capitals retained Mukesh Kumar using their Right to Match (RTM) card for ₹8 crore. Kumar, who made his IPL debut with Delhi Capitals in 2023 and subsequently debuted for India across all formats, impressed last season with 17 wickets in 10 matches.

Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Venugopal Rao, highlighted the team’s strengthened bowling attack, stating that the combination of experienced pacers like Starc, Natarajan, Mohit, and Mukesh, alongside spinners Axar and Kuldeep, creates a formidable bowling lineup. He emphasized that while strong batting will win matches, a powerful bowling attack will ultimately secure the title.

Sourav Ganguly, Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals and JSW Sports, expressed delight at securing du Plessis, praising his consistent performance in various leagues and his leadership capabilities.
