**NEW DELHI, November 20, 2024** – Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is set to make a significant splash in the burgeoning Indian electric two-wheeler market. The company announced the November 27th launch of its first electric vehicle, the highly anticipated Activa E electric scooter. This launch positions Honda to compete directly with established players like TVS, Hero, Ather, Ola, and Bajaj.
Ahead of the launch, Honda has released several teasers offering glimpses of the Activa E’s design and features. While specifics remain under wraps, teasers reveal a headlight design integrated with the Honda logo and suggest a design possibly influenced by the company’s global CUV-e model. The scooter is expected to feature a long, wide seat and a unique swappable battery system consisting of two battery packs housed under the seat, though this might compromise under-seat storage. A compact charger located near the footboard is another intriguing feature.
Two variants are anticipated, differentiated by their digital instrument clusters: a TFT display for the base model and a multi-color screen for the higher-end variant. The latter will likely offer features such as turn-by-turn navigation and music control.
Honda hints at a range exceeding 104 km, possibly powered by a 2.5 to 2.8 kWh battery pack and a swingarm-mounted electric motor – a design similar to competitors like the Bajaj Chetak and Vida V1. Pricing details are yet to be revealed, but estimates place the Activa E around Rs 1 lakh. The launch is highly anticipated, marking a crucial step for Honda in the increasingly competitive Indian electric scooter market.
