Mon Nov 25 18:06:27 UTC 2024: ## Congress Demands JPC Probe into Adani Group Amidst Multiple Pressing Issues

**New Delhi, November 26, 2024** – The Indian National Congress held a parliamentary strategy meeting yesterday, identifying several key issues to prioritize during the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament. The party remains steadfast in its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the Adani Group, citing recent revelations in the United States as further justification.

The meeting, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi, P. Chidambaram, and Jairam Ramesh, also highlighted the need for discussions on the disengagement process with China along the border, the ongoing violence in Manipur, communal clashes in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal region, and the worsening air pollution.

While the Congress forced adjournments in both houses of Parliament on the first day of the session over the Adani issue, senior party leaders indicated a willingness to engage in substantive discussions on other crucial matters. The party intends to press for a thorough debate on the violence in Manipur and Sambhal, aligning with other INDIA alliance members like the Samajwadi Party, who are also demanding immediate attention to the Uttar Pradesh situation. Despite the firm stance on the JPC, the Congress aims to avoid a complete shutdown of parliamentary proceedings.
