Mon Nov 25 23:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Government Doubles Down on Electric Vehicles to Combat Pollution
**Hyderabad, November 26, 2024** – Telangana’s Irrigation Minister, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, has reiterated the state government’s strong commitment to promoting electric vehicles (EVs) as a key strategy in tackling the growing urban pollution crisis. Speaking at the launch of the “E-Raja L-5 Segment Electric Auto,” a domestically manufactured vehicle by Rap Eco Motors, Minister Reddy warned of a potential Delhi-like air quality emergency if pollution remains unchecked. He emphasized the need for both immediate and long-term solutions to protect public health, economic productivity, and the environment.
To incentivize EV adoption, the Telangana government has already implemented a 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees for electric vehicles. This initiative is part of a broader green mobility strategy. Rap Eco Motors’ CEO, R Balakrishnan, commended the state government for fostering an environment supportive of innovation and sustainable transportation. The launch event took place at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI).
