Mon Nov 25 22:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Shivers Under Severe Cold Wave; Orange Alert Issued for Three Districts
**Hyderabad, [Date]:** A severe cold wave is gripping Telangana, with temperatures plummeting across the state, impacting both rural and urban areas. For the past two to three days, a blanket of cold has enveloped the region, with many areas experiencing nighttime bonfires and morning fog.
The coldest temperature was recorded in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district, where Sirpur (U) registered a chilling 9.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Other severely affected areas include several mandals in Asifabad, and several mandals in Adilabad and Sangareddy districts, where temperatures also dipped below 10 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures have also fallen significantly below normal across the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, and Nirmal districts, warning of minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius in several mandals over the next three days. A yellow alert has been issued for 30 other districts, anticipating minimum temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius.
Authorities are urging residents, particularly children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions, to take precautions. They advise limiting outdoor activities during the early morning and evening hours and suggest staying indoors in warm environments. Farmers are advised to take measures to protect their livestock from the cold. The IMD also advises the administration to be prepared for strong winds accompanying the cold wave and to closely monitor the orange alert districts.
This year’s cold snap has been unusually early and intense, with several districts experiencing unusually low temperatures even before the typical December dip. The IMD attributes the current conditions to winds blowing from the northeast and eastern parts of the country.
