**Vijayawada, November 26, 2024** – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called for a state-wide push towards solar energy self-reliance, urging every home and office to adopt solar power generation. In a review meeting on Monday, Mr. Naidu highlighted the state’s favorable climate for solar energy and stressed the need for comprehensive plans to fully utilize this resource.
The Chief Minister emphasized public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the benefits of solar power and the importance of meeting the targets set in the state’s solarisation programme. He also stressed the potential for consumers to generate extra income by selling surplus solar power back to the grid.
To facilitate this transition, Mr. Naidu instructed officials to promote central government schemes like PM SuryaGhar and KUSUM, which offer financial assistance for solar power installations. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of existing solar initiatives, including the PM KUSUM scheme for agricultural pump sets. Mr. Naidu urged them to expedite implementation, emphasizing the dual benefit of reduced electricity bills and increased income generation for citizens. The government aims to ensure that the benefits of these solar programs reach every citizen in the state.
