**Chennai, Tamil Nadu, November 26, 2024** – Schools and colleges in several districts across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, are closed today following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for extremely heavy rainfall. The red alert is in effect for three central districts today, November 26th, and two districts on November 27th. A yellow alert is in place for Chennai from November 27th to 29th, warning of heavy rainfall. Neighboring districts, including Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpet, are under yellow and orange alerts from November 27th to 30th.
