Mon Nov 25 15:29:38 UTC 2024: ## Disgruntled JD(S) Leader Claims Widespread Dissatisfaction Within Party
**Mysuru, November 25, 2024** – Former Union Minister C.M. Ibrahim has claimed that widespread discontent is brewing within the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)), alleging that 10 to 13 MLAs are unhappy with the party leadership. Ibrahim, who met with senior JD(S) leader G.T. Deve Gowda on Monday, stated that Gowda’s dissatisfaction, expressed after a public falling out with party leader H.D. Kumaraswamy, is echoed by numerous other party members.
Ibrahim, removed as JD(S) state president last year for opposing the party’s alliance with the BJP, asserted he remains the party president and maintains contact with several MLAs. He criticized Kumaraswamy’s unilateral decisions and suggested a need for a “third force” in Karnataka state politics due to the opposition to the JD(S)-BJP alliance. While clarifying his close relationship with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah doesn’t signify a move to the Congress, Ibrahim urged Kumaraswamy to return the party to its founding principles.
He further criticized the JD(S) leadership for blaming the Muslim community entirely for Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s electoral defeat, questioning why other voter demographics weren’t considered.
Ibrahim also condemned the BJP for its focus on communal issues, urging its MPs to prioritize pressing state matters like securing funds for crucial water projects instead. He questioned the disparity between Karnataka’s significant contribution to central taxes and the relatively smaller amount it receives in return. While stating neither he nor Gowda plan to leave the JD(S), Ibrahim indicated he will be discussing the possibility of forming a third force, potentially involving various groups including farmers’ leader Kodihalli Chandrashekar and other political and social figures.
