Mon Nov 25 23:10:00 UTC 2024: **Andhra Pradesh to Launch Single-Window Building Permit System**

VIJAYAWADA, November 26, 2024 – Andhra Pradesh will implement a single-window system for building and layout permits starting December 31st, announced Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister P. Narayana. This initiative, part of the state’s “Speed of Doing Business” initiative, aims to streamline the construction permit process and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for builders.

The new system will integrate servers from various departments, including Revenue, Registration, Fire Safety, Mines, Railways, and Aviation, with the Municipal Administration Department’s server. Buildings up to 15 meters in height will be exempt from plan permits. Licensed surveyors can apply online, with penalties including license revocation and criminal action for fraudulent activities. A task force will monitor the system for irregularities.

Minister Narayana also confirmed that the construction of Amaravati, the state capital, will proceed. The central government’s declaration of Amaravati as the capital in Parliament paves the way for an official gazette notification. Designs for iconic towers, the Assembly, and High Court, previously handled by Norman Foster & Partners, have been re-awarded to the same firm following a retendering process. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has approved the designs, and construction is expected to begin soon. Furthermore, the Minister confirmed that there are no issues with the World Bank loan for the project.
