STRUTHERS, OH – Brittany Paige Heckathorn, 32, of Struthers, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. A beloved mother, daughter, and friend, Ms. Heckathorn was known for her unwavering spirit and determination, even while battling juvenile Huntington’s disease for a decade.
Ms. Heckathorn, a 2014 graduate of Laurel Technical Institute with an associate degree in network administration and information technology, leaves behind her son, Landon Phillabaum, the center of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Leona Haynes; her grandmother, Cecilia “Ann” Wilson; her brother, Ryan Heckathorn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
“Brittany was a force of nature – brave, stubborn, funny, and fiercely loyal,” said a family member. Her love for Batman was legendary, a fitting symbol of her strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Kirila Funeral Home in Struthers, followed by a service. The family requests that attendees consider wearing something Batman-themed in her honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Brittany’s memory to a charity dedicated to Huntington’s Disease research.
Ms. Heckathorn’s vibrant spirit and courageous battle will be remembered by all who knew her.
