Tue Nov 26 05:33:30 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Remembers 2008 Terror Attacks; 16th Anniversary Marked Amidst Viral Video Controversy

**Mumbai, India –** Sixteen years after the devastating 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the city and nation remember the 166 lives lost in the three-day siege. Commemorative events are being held across Mumbai today to honor the victims and the brave security forces who fought back.

The attacks, one of India’s deadliest, involved ten terrorists who arrived by sea from Pakistan and launched coordinated attacks across multiple locations in South Mumbai. The National Security Guard (NSG) commandos ultimately neutralized the terrorists. The capture of Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving terrorist, provided crucial evidence linking Pakistan to the attacks.

This solemn anniversary is overshadowed by a separate controversy. A video circulating widely on social media, reportedly showing a Buddhist monk stealing from a donation box at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, has sparked outrage. Separately, another video alleging EVM tampering is circulating widely after the second phase of voting in an unspecified state. The authenticity of both videos is yet to be verified.
