Tue Nov 26 07:50:00 UTC 2024: ## HarmonyOS Native WeChat Update Rolls Out with Enhanced Features
**Beijing, November 25** – A new update for the HarmonyOS (Harmony Next) native version of WeChat has been released to beta testers. Version 1.0.2.16 (1049104) boasts significant improvements, including enhanced image sending and viewing in chats, improved message quoting, and group chat collapsing. The update also adds support for map, hardware, and other components and interfaces within mini-programs. Further improvements include performance optimizations and additional core feature enhancements.
According to user feedback, the update also introduces several new features, such as file forwarding, enhanced video account integration, improved mini-program search, options for forwarding multiple messages individually or merged, “patting” functionality (a social feature), customizable “Listen Now” and mini-program options on the discovery page, friend group visibility settings for Moments, improved friend备注和标签 (remark and tag) editing, “Listen Now” integration on the home screen pull-down, and group red envelopes (gradually rolling out via hot updates).
Following Tencent’s public relations director Zhang Jun’s previous statement, future WeChat updates will be rolled out via invitation-only beta programs before wider release in the “early access” section. This follows Huawei’s June 2024 announcement that development of native HarmonyOS applications was in full swing, with the top 5000 apps undergoing development to achieve 99.9% user time satisfaction across 18 categories. Popular apps such as WeChat, QQ, Alipay, Taobao, and JD.com have all released HarmonyOS native versions. IT Home and its sister app “Zui Hui Mai” launched their own HarmonyOS 1.0 native versions on September 30th.
