**Mumbai, November 26** – The Chief Minister’s post in Maharashtra remains undecided following the recent state assembly election results, despite a clear victory for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition. While Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has stated that discussions regarding the Chief Minister’s role are ongoing, he confirmed that the decision will be made collaboratively by the coalition partners.

Pawar, who was elected NCP leader in the assembly, emphasized that the coalition, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, will meet to discuss the formation of a stable government. He acknowledged the significant role of the government’s “Ladki Behan Yojana” (a financial assistance scheme for women) in securing the MVA’s victory. While the coalition aims to finalize a formula for cabinet formation soon, Pawar dismissed rumours suggesting a looming President’s Rule due to delays.

Speculation surrounds the role of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, who is considered a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s position, given the BJP’s impressive win of 132 out of 149 contested seats. Questions remain regarding the potential appointment of two Deputy Chief Ministers, a scenario that occurred in the previous government. A close associate of Pawar has yet to offer clarity on this point. The coalition’s decision on the crucial position of Chief Minister is expected imminently.
