Mon Nov 25 09:58:30 UTC 2024: ## Zimbabwe Stuns Pakistan in ODI Series Opener

**Bulawayo, Zimbabwe –** In a stunning upset, Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan by 80 runs in the first One Day International (ODI) of their three-match series on Sunday at Queens Sports Club. The victory came via the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method after rain interrupted Pakistan’s chase.

Zimbabwe, batting first, found themselves struggling at 125-7 before a crucial 62-run partnership between Sikandar Raza (39) and Richard Ngarava (48) propelled them to a total of 205. Pakistan’s bowling attack, featuring debutant Faisal Akram (3-24) and Salman Agha (3-42), proved ineffective in the face of the late Zimbabwean surge.

Pakistan’s chase was quickly derailed by Blessing Muzarabani, who removed the openers early. A collapse to 60-6 in 21 overs, followed by heavy rain, sealed their fate. The Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method ultimately determined the 80-run victory for Zimbabwe.

The two teams will face off again in Bulawayo on Tuesday and Thursday.
