**Nashville, TN** – Sixty years after her tragic death, the music of Patsy Cline continues to resonate. This Friday, PBS will air “Great Performances – Patsy Cline: Walkin’ After Midnight,” a 90-minute concert tribute featuring an impressive lineup of artists paying homage to the country music legend.
Recorded at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, the concert boasts performances from Wynonna Judd, Ashley McBryde, Crystal Gayle, Mickey Guyton, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Wilson, Kellie Pickler, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Grace Potter, Beverly D’Angelo, and Mandy Barnett. Each artist tackles songs made famous by Cline, offering fresh interpretations of classics like “Sweet Dreams (of You),” “Crazy,” and “I Fall to Pieces.”
Pat Benatar, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, shared her perspective on Cline’s enduring appeal, stating that Cline’s music transcends genre and that she is a true icon. Benatar and her husband, Neil Giraldo, performed “Imagine That,” highlighting the diverse range of artists drawn to Cline’s timeless music.
The concert also includes archival footage featuring interviews with Loretta Lynn, Dottie West, Roy Clark, Owen Bradley, and Cline’s late husband, Charlie Dick, providing further insight into the life and career of this remarkable artist. Cline, born Virginia Patterson Hensley, achieved remarkable success in a short career, marked by hits like “Walkin’ After Midnight” and “She’s Got You,” before her untimely death in a plane crash in 1963 at the age of 30.
