Mon Nov 25 02:26:07 UTC 2024: ## Mahayuti’s Broad Appeal Fuels Victory in Maharashtra Assembly Elections

**Mumbai, November 25, 2024** – The Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance secured a significant victory in the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections, fueled by widespread approval of its governance, according to a Lokniti-CSDS analysis. The study reveals that the Mahayuti enjoyed considerably higher positive ratings than the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government, a preference that transcended demographic, regional, and economic lines.

While both alliances performed equally well among urban voters, the Mahayuti significantly outperformed the MVA in rural areas (43% versus 29%). This dominance extended across various socio-economic regions, with the exception of the Konkan region. The Mahayuti’s strongest support came from Vidarbha and Mumbai-Thane, surpassing the MVA in Marathwada and North Maharashtra as well.

Interestingly, the Mahayuti’s popularity was particularly strong among lower and middle-income groups. Conversely, the MVA enjoyed higher popularity among wealthier voters, despite targeted outreach to poorer segments of the population.

Associate Professor Sanjeer Alam of Lokniti-CSDS concludes that the Mahayuti’s success stems from a marked improvement in its perceived governance and its ability to connect with a broad spectrum of voters. This widespread appeal proved crucial in securing the alliance’s electoral win.
