Sun Nov 24 18:23:14 UTC 2024: ## Calicut University Accused of Creating Teacher Divide Over Evaluation Fees

**Kozhikode, Kerala – November 25, 2024** – The Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association (KPCTA) has accused the University of Calicut of attempting to create a rift between teachers in government and aided colleges and those in self-financing institutions. The KPCTA alleges that a recent circular regarding the evaluation of undergraduate answer scripts unfairly benefits teachers in self-financing colleges and self-financing programs within government and aided colleges.

The contentious circular outlines special allowances and honorariums for evaluators in self-financing settings, subject to Syndicate approval. The KPCTA interprets this as implying that the majority of teachers in government and aided colleges will receive no such compensation. Further fueling their concerns is the circular’s mandate to increase the daily evaluation workload from 25 to 60 answer scripts.

The KPCTA views these actions as discriminatory and detrimental to the teaching community. The association is calling for a fair and equitable compensation structure for all teachers involved in the evaluation process.
