**Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh:** A Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the CBI is investigating allegations of adulterated ghee used in the preparation of the famed Tirupati Laddu prasadam. The controversy, which sparked national outrage, prompted the Supreme Court to order the SIT investigation.
The SIT, comprising CBI officers and local police officials, is conducting a thorough investigation in Tirupati. For the past two days, they have been examining documents related to ghee procurement tenders from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) marketing godowns and have seized key documents from the suppliers, including Vaishavi and AR Dairy. A 13-hour raid was conducted at AR Dairy in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
The investigation is focusing on all aspects of the ghee procurement and supply chain. The SIT is operating in three teams, interviewing officials at various levels, including DSPs and CIs. The investigation is based on a case registered at Tirupati East Police Station. The CBI’s involvement is ensuring a transparent and comprehensive inquiry into this sensitive matter.
