**Hyderabad, India** – Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have announced their retention strategy for the upcoming 2025 IPL mega auction, retaining five key players for a combined cost of Rs 75 crore. This leaves the franchise with a remaining purse of Rs 45 crore to fill 20 vacant slots.
The retained players are a mix of international and Indian talent, including big names like Pat Cummins (Rs 18 crore) and Heinrich Klaasen (Rs 23 crore). Abhishek Sharma (Rs 14 crore), Travis Head (Rs 14 crore), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (Rs 6 crore) complete the retained quintet. Notably, SRH opted not to retain any of their Indian fast bowlers this year, indicating a strategic shift in their recruitment focus.
With only two Indian players currently retained, SRH will prioritize bolstering their domestic lineup at the auction. They will be particularly focused on finding dependable bowlers to lead their attack.
Already, SRH have made significant additions, acquiring a powerful batting and bowling lineup through the auction. Key buys include star wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan (Rs 11.25 crore), along with premier bowlers Mohammed Shami (Rs 10 crore), Harshal Patel (Rs 8 crore), and Rahul Chahar (Rs 3.20 crore). Overseas signings also include Adam Zampa (Rs 2.40 crore). Young Indian talent such as Abhinav Manohar (Rs 3.20 crore) and Simarjeet Singh (Rs 1.50 crore) were also acquired.
With a substantial war chest remaining and a clear strategy to address their team’s needs, Sunrisers Hyderabad are poised to make a significant impact at the 2025 IPL mega auction.
