SRIKAKULAM, Andhra Pradesh – November 24, 2024 – The president of the Andhra Pradesh Sadhu Parishad, Swami Srinivasananda Saraswati, has called on the state government to take immediate action to protect temple lands from encroachment. Speaking at the Hindu Dharmika Sammelanam in Srikakulam district on Sunday, Swami Srinivasananda alleged that over 50,000 acres of temple land have been illegally seized, criticizing the Endowments Department’s inaction.
He further demanded that only followers of Hinduism be employed in temples across the state and urged the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to build Lord Venkateswara Swamy temples in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe colonies to counter religious conversions. The religious conclave, attended by numerous devotees from North Andhra, also featured addresses from other religious leaders, including Ahobilam’s Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamy and Telangana Sadhu Parishad President Sankargiri Swamy. The event was coordinated by the Sadhu Parishad honorary president, Atluri Narayana Rao.
