**New Delhi, November 25, 2024** – Three people were killed and numerous others injured in clashes between protesters and police in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, following a court-ordered survey of a Mughal-era mosque. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has accused the Yogi Adityanath government of inciting the violence, alleging the administration acted hastily and without considering both sides in a sensitive matter.

The violence erupted on Sunday, November 24, 2024, leading to the deaths of Naeem, Bilal, and Nauman, all around 25 years old. Several security and administration personnel were also injured, including a police officer shot in the leg and a deputy collector who suffered a fractured leg. The district administration responded by imposing prohibitory orders, barring outsiders until November 30th, suspending internet services in Sambhal tehsil for 24 hours, and declaring a holiday for schools on Monday.

In a statement on X, Ms. Gandhi criticized the Uttar Pradesh government’s handling of the situation, stating that its actions created a divisive atmosphere and urging the Supreme Court to intervene and ensure justice. The Congress party further alleged that the Adityanath administration is responsible for the deaths and that the BJP-RSS is to blame for the unrest.
