**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia –** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) successfully exercised their Right to Match (RTM) card to retain spinner Swapnil Singh at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah on Monday. The franchise secured Singh for ₹50 lakh, matching a bid from the Delhi Capitals.
Initially, RCB began bidding for Singh at his base price of ₹30 lakh. However, they strategically withdrew their bid when the Delhi Capitals entered the fray. Delhi’s maximum bid reached ₹50 lakh, a figure RCB ultimately matched to retain the player.
Singh, who made his IPL debut in 2017, had a strong season with RCB in IPL 2024, capturing 6 wickets in 7 matches at an impressive economy rate of 8.87, with best figures of 2/28. He also contributed significantly with the bat, scoring 37 runs at a strike rate of 176.19. He was previously picked up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2023 auction. RCB’s strategic use of their RTM card ensures the retention of a key player for the upcoming season.
