**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh (November 25, 2024):** Vijayawada Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu has urged students to utilize emergency hotlines 100 and 112 to report crimes against women, emphasizing the importance of swift police action. Speaking at a program on the “Elimination of Violence Against Women” on Monday, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Mr. Babu highlighted the increased use of social media by criminals to target women. He cautioned students to remain vigilant and safe online. The police commissioner also revealed that drone surveillance is being used at schools and colleges to monitor the activities of potential offenders, with strong action being taken against those who abuse women on social media. Separately, NGOs HELP and Vimukthi held a meeting appealing for community involvement to end crimes against women, with participants pledging to break the silence surrounding violence against women.
