Mon Nov 25 13:42:50 UTC 2024: ## Zimbabwe Stuns Pakistan in ODI Thriller, Winning by 80 Runs (DLS)

**Bulawayo, Zimbabwe** – Zimbabwe pulled off a stunning upset victory over Pakistan in the first One Day International (ODI) of their three-match series at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Sunday. Zimbabwe won by 80 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method after rain interrupted play.

Despite a rested Pakistan side featuring three debutants – Haseebullah Khan, Aamir Jamal, and Faisal Akram – Zimbabwe posted a competitive 205 all out in 40.2 overs. Richard Ngarava top-scored for Zimbabwe with 48 runs, while Sikandar Raza contributed 39. Pakistan’s bowling attack impressed, with Faisal Akram (3/24) and Agha Salman (3/42) taking three wickets apiece.

Pakistan’s chase faltered dramatically, however. Blessing Muzarabani made early breakthroughs, dismissing both openers cheaply. Further wickets from Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza left Pakistan reeling at 60/6 after 21 overs. Heavy rain then forced the abandonment of the match, resulting in a comfortable 80-run victory for Zimbabwe under the DLS method.

The win gives Zimbabwe a 1-0 lead in the series. The two teams will meet again in Bulawayo on Tuesday and Thursday for the remaining matches. Pakistan will need to regroup and improve significantly if they are to level the series.
