**New Delhi:** As the Parliament’s winter session commences today, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged for the separation of politics from the Constitution. In a statement, he highlighted the Constitution’s role in bringing about socio-economic change and uplifting marginalized communities in India. He lauded the Constitution for ensuring equal voting rights for all citizens without discrimination.

Birla also reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s stance on the continued need for reservations for underprivileged and backward classes, emphasizing their development as crucial for societal progress. He affirmed the central government’s commitment to constitutional governance and stressed the importance of upholding high standards in public institutions.

Speaker Birla announced that President Droupadi Murmu will address both houses of Parliament on Constitution Day, November 26th, at the Central Hall of the old Parliament House, reading the Preamble to the Constitution.
