Sun Nov 24 15:51:05 UTC 2024: ## Iran to Hold Nuclear Talks Amidst IAEA Censure

**Tehran, November 24, 2024** – Iran announced Sunday it will hold nuclear talks with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom next Friday following a UN censure. The meeting, involving deputy foreign ministers, will address regional and international issues, including the Iranian nuclear program, Palestine, and Lebanon. This follows a Thursday resolution by the IAEA’s Board of Governors criticizing Iran’s lack of cooperation.

Despite the censure, Iran agreed to cap its stockpile of 60% enriched uranium, a key demand from the IAEA. However, Tehran simultaneously announced it will launch advanced centrifuges to significantly boost its enrichment capacity. Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi stated that this increase would utilize various types of advanced machines. Iran maintains its commitment to technical and safeguards cooperation with the IAEA.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in office since July, reiterated his desire to clarify ambiguities surrounding the nation’s nuclear program. The current situation stems from the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, leading to the reimposition of sanctions and Iran’s subsequent reduction in cooperation with the IAEA. Iran’s enrichment level of 60% is significantly higher than the 3.67% limit agreed upon in 2015 and close to the threshold needed for a nuclear weapon, according to the IAEA.
