Sun Nov 24 15:41:44 UTC 2024: ## Congress Alleges EVM Hacking in Maharashtra Elections
**Bengaluru, November 24, 2024** – Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara, also an AICC observer for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, has accused the ruling BJP of selectively hacking electronic voting machines (EVMs) to influence the election results. He claims this was revealed during a post-election analysis by Congress leaders, including former Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel.
Parameshwara stated that the Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi’s poor performance in Maharashtra prompted the investigation, which uncovered evidence of targeted EVM manipulation in key constituencies across large states. He asserted that this selective hacking rendered fair elections impossible for parties other than the BJP.
The Home Minister expressed frustration over the Election Commission of India (ECI)’s past dismissal of Congress’ concerns regarding EVM integrity, advocating for a return to ballot papers, a system used in many countries including the U.S. He questioned where the Congress can appeal after the Supreme Court and ECI have rejected their allegations. The party is reportedly planning to formally appeal to the ECI regarding their findings.
