**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** The Gujarat Titans (GT) made a significant splash on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, securing star English wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler for a whopping ₹15.75 crores. This headline acquisition was followed by a series of strategic signings designed to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
The Titans also added firepower to their bowling attack, acquiring Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj (₹12.25 crores) and South African speedster Kagiso Rabada (₹10.75 crores). Further bolstering their roster, GT picked up all-rounder Washington Sundar (₹3.20 crores), South African pacer Gerald Coetzee (₹2.40 crores), and several other players including Sai Kishore (₹2 crores), Prasidh Krishna (₹9.5 crores), and Mahipal Lomror (₹1.7 crores).
GT assistant coach Parthiv Patel expressed his delight at securing Buttler, highlighting the potential benefits for captain Shubman Gill. “Very happy to have Jos Buttler in our side,” Patel told ESPNcricinfo. “He can bat anywhere, he can keep as well, he can help Shubman also. We wanted to buy our no. 1 bowler and no. 1 batter from the marquee set and we have both.”
GT director of cricket Vikram Solanki echoed the sentiment, stating, “We’ve very happy with the team we’ve got. The team is starting to take shape but we still need to fill slots and be smart.” He hinted at further strategic acquisitions in the days to come. The existing core of the team includes Rashid Khan (₹18 crores), Shubman Gill (₹16.5 crores), Sai Sudharsan (₹8.5 crores), Rahul Tewatia (₹4 crores), and Shahrukh Khan (₹4 crores). The Titans’ aggressive spending signals their ambition for a strong title challenge in IPL 2025.
