**JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA –** Veteran South African batsman Faf du Plessis has joined the Delhi Capitals for ₹2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, held in Jeddah on Monday. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, for whom du Plessis played last season and led to the playoffs, opted not to retain him using their Right to Match (RTM) card. Du Plessis, who entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore, boasts an impressive IPL career, having scored 4,571 runs in 145 matches, including 37 fifties, for both Chennai Super Kings (with whom he won two titles) and RCB.
