**NEW DELHI –** A Delhi Police constable, Kiranpal, was stabbed to death during a routine patrol early Wednesday morning, triggering a chain of events that culminated in the death of the prime suspect, Raghav alias Rocky, in a police encounter on Saturday night.
Constable Kiranpal, 28, who joined the force in 2018, confronted three drunk men near Arya Samaj Mandir in Govindpuri. After seizing their scooter keys to prevent their escape, he was fatally stabbed. He was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Following an investigation, police apprehended two suspects, Deepak and Krish, in a shootout in the Kalkaji area on Friday. Deepak sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the encounter.
The hunt then focused on Raghav, the main suspect. Late Saturday night, a joint police team located him in Sangam Vihar. When officers attempted to arrest him, Raghav opened fire with a .32 bore pistol. Police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in Raghav’s death despite immediate medical treatment. A loaded pistol was recovered from him. No police personnel were injured in the Saturday night operation. The investigation into the original stabbing is ongoing.
