Mon Nov 25 02:13:34 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Capitals Make Strategic IPL 2025 Acquisitions

**NEW DELHI** – The Delhi Capitals made a series of shrewd acquisitions during the IPL 2025 mega auction on Sunday, securing star players KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc at relatively lower prices. Their strategic approach was further highlighted by the use of their Right to Match (RTM) card for Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk.

The Capitals secured wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul for ₹14 crore. Rahul’s experience as a captain is considered a valuable asset to the team. They also acquired Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc for ₹11.75 crore and England’s Harry Brook for ₹6.25 crore.

The team’s strategic foresight was particularly evident in their retention of 22-year-old Jake Fraser-McGurk, using their RTM card to acquire him for ₹9 crore. Fraser-McGurk, who debuted in the IPL last year, impressed with his power-hitting, scoring 330 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 234, with half his runs coming from sixes. He faced competition from Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants for his services.

The Delhi Capitals spent a total of ₹59.20 crore in the auction, supplementing the ₹47 crore used for player retentions. This leaves them with ₹13.80 crore remaining. The absence of captain Rishabh Pant, however, remains a significant loss for the team.
