**Tirupati, [Date of Publication]:** The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) held a rally in Tirupati on Sunday, demanding increased funding for the city’s development. Following a public march, party leaders addressed a gathering at Vemana Vignana Kendram, highlighting concerns about the rising cost of living, unemployment, and inadequate healthcare and education facilities.

Party district secretary Vandavasi Nagaraju called on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to allocate Rs 100 crore annually from its budget for Tirupati’s comprehensive development. He criticized the current situation, arguing that stagnant incomes and soaring living costs are disproportionately impacting ordinary citizens.

The CPM also underscored its past efforts to advocate for the rights of contract workers and forest workers at the TTD, citing a prolonged hunger strike as a successful example of their activism. The party’s city secretary, T Subramanyam, and other committee members were present at the rally.
