**New Delhi, November 25, 2024** – Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today emphasized the dynamic nature of the Indian Constitution, describing it not as a static document but as an evolving journey. Speaking at the NDTV India Samvad Samvidhan 2024 Summit, Rijiju lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in establishing Constitution Day, celebrated annually on November 26th.
Rijiju, who previously served as Union Law Minister, highlighted the Constitution’s amendments over time, acknowledging that while core principles remain untouchable, adaptation within a democratic system is necessary. He underscored the lack of complete historical information surrounding the Constitution’s drafting, mentioning both documented and undocumented events.
To shed further light on the Constitution’s creation, the government will release two new books on Tuesday. These publications aim to explore the inspirations behind the Constitution’s creation, including detailing lesser-known details such as the origins of imagery within the Fundamental Rights section.
Rijiju’s address comes as India prepares to celebrate Constitution Day, marking the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949 and its subsequent enforcement on January 26, 1950. The celebration, initiated by the Modi government in 2015, aims to reinforce constitutional values among Indian citizens.
