Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – November 25, 2024 – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a significant splash on the second day of the IPL Mega Auction in Jeddah, acquiring veteran Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a hefty ₹10.75 crore. This marks a homecoming for Kumar, who began his IPL career with RCB in 2009, though opportunities were limited in his early seasons.

After a stint with Pune Warriors, Kumar’s career took off with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2014. He consistently impressed, taking over 18 wickets for four consecutive seasons with SRH, culminating in him winning the Purple Cap in 2016 and 2017. His contributions were instrumental in SRH’s IPL title victory in 2016.

Despite his impressive IPL career, Kumar hasn’t featured for Team India since the 2022 T20 World Cup. However, he remains a highly successful T20 bowler, holding the third-highest wicket tally for India in the format with 90 wickets from 87 matches. His return to RCB is anticipated to bolster their bowling attack significantly.
