**PATHANAMTHITTA, KERALA –** A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a motorcyclist who was killed after his vehicle struck a rope stretched across a road in Kerala. P.K. Rajan, a resident of Kaviyoor, was arrested on Monday following the death of 34-year-old Siyad of Thakazhi.

The rope, placed across the Muthoor-Kuttappuzha road, was intended to control traffic while a tree was being felled in a nearby school compound. Siyad, who was riding his motorcycle home with his wife and two children, was unaware of the barrier and struck it, resulting in a fatal neck injury. His family members sustained minor injuries.

Rajan, who was contracted for the tree-felling work, was implicated by six other workers who testified he erected the rope without any warning signs. Siyad’s body underwent a post-mortem examination at Alappuzha Medical College.
