Mon Nov 25 16:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Two Malayali Cricketers Sold at IPL Mega Auction

**Jeddah:** The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction saw two Malayali cricketers, Sachin Baby and Vishnu Vinod, find new teams. Sunrisers Hyderabad secured Sachin Baby for his base price of ₹30 lakh, while Punjab Kings acquired Vishnu Vinod for a hefty ₹95 lakh.

Baby, the Kerala captain and top run-scorer in this year’s Kerala Cricket League, has previously played for Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. His impressive century in the Kerala Cricket League final cemented his reputation. He also held the second position in the run-scoring charts during last year’s Ranji Trophy.

Vinod, a wicketkeeper-batsman, played for Mumbai Indians in the last two seasons. Mumbai Indians were reportedly keen to retain him, but ultimately withdrew from the bidding war with Punjab Kings at ₹95 lakh.

In a less fortunate turn of events, neither Salman Nizar of Calicut nor former Rajasthan Royals player Abdul Basith found buyers at the auction, despite their strong performances in the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) league.
