**Mumbai, India** – Kerala cricketer Vishnu Vinod has been acquired by the Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL mega auction. The Kings secured Vinod for ₹95 lakh, significantly exceeding his base price of ₹35 lakh. Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians also showed interest in the player.
Vinod, an uncapped player, has previously played for Bangalore Royal Challengers, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians. In his six IPL matches, he has scored a total of 56 runs, with a highest score of 30. His last match was against Gujarat Titans while playing for Mumbai in the 2023 season.
Fellow Keralite Devdatta Padikkal, with a base price of ₹2 crore, remained unsold in the auction. Several other notable players, including David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Waqar Salamkheil, also went unsold.
The auction saw Rishabh Pant become the most expensive player, purchased by Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering ₹27 crore. Shreyas Iyer was picked up by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore, and Venkatesh Iyer joined Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹23.75 crore. Rahul Tripathi also had a successful auction, fetching ₹3.40 crore.
