Mon Nov 25 17:14:37 UTC 2024: ## Veteran Pacer Jimmy Anderson Shocks Cricket World with IPL Auction Entry

**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** In a surprising move that has sent ripples through the cricket world, legendary English fast bowler Jimmy Anderson has registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. The 42-year-old, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year, previously registered for the 2012 auction but went unsold. This time, however, his entry has sparked considerable interest.

Anderson’s inclusion in the auction has generated excitement, with several teams potentially considering him as a backup option and mentoring resource. The Chennai Super Kings are among those speculated to be interested. His experience and potential mentoring role could make him a valuable asset despite his age.

Anderson’s decision has even inspired South African legend Herschelle Gibbs, who playfully declared his readiness to participate in the auction at the age of 50, tweeting, “If Jimmy’s in, I’m in!” Gibbs played for the Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Anderson’s base price is set at ₹1.25 crore. In his 44 T20 matches, he has taken 41 wickets.

The IPL 2025 mega auction will take place in Jeddah on November 24th and 25th. The BCCI has shortlisted 574 players for the event.
